Today we headed to Sarasota, to Ed Smith Stadium, the spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles. Long ago we started a tradition, whenever we traveled for a vacation or a conference, if there was a Major League Baseball game nearby, we would go. We actually have been doing this since even before our little baseball fanatic, Jacob, was born. However, we have never been to a spring training game! So as we pulled up, I was so excited, I felt like Jacob!
The bonus for us about this game was that it was the Minnisota Twins vs. the Baltimore Orioles. Our AAA Rochester Red Wings are the farm team to the Twins, so we saw many players that we have seen playing with the Red Wings! And, although we had seen the Orioles play in a regular season game in Baltimore, we have never seen the Twins play, so double bonus!
Jacob's favorite Red Wings players, James Beresford and Oswaldo Arcia were both playing.
It was a great game, we had good seats, and the Twins won!
After the game, we considered what to do next. We had no specific plans after this. Sarasota is close to Tampa, so we decided to press on to Tampa to spend the night and go to Busch Gardens tomorrow.
Here are a few more pictures from the baseball game.
